The summer flies by & our show will be here in just a heartbeat.

How many books we have to sell will be decided within the next two weeks. One thing seems sure, our book will be in limited supply. Please order any books you were planning to buy right away, this will help us create a supply of books to sell in October.

I remember many years ago, one of the first professional opportunities I had to show my work was in a group show at the Oregon Society of Artists. I was so excited to attend the opening reception, and was keenly disappointed with the sparse attendance. I think I must have said something to one of the indomitable volunteers, and I'll never forget how she smiled at me and said, "Yes, it's always difficult to predict attendance at an event like this...How many people did you invite, Dear?"

Of course I was embarrassed to realize, I had not invited anyone, I'd just relied on the gallery to bring me some customers...

I think of that conversation now as I work on the sales presentation for our Book of Days. We can't predict how many people will participate, but we can be sure they are invited.

Emeritus member artist Konky Forster has sent me this beautiful image for her page in our Book of Days. I can't wait to see how it looks in our book.

The general meeting at Debby Neely's house was very fun. It is always a treat to see Debby's home & her impeccable work. I sure felt inspired in her enviable roomy studio!

The first "paper preview" of our Book of Days was a Big success. Everyone was enjoying seeing one another's pages.

I think I'm learning, with everyone's help, how to explain that all of our participating artists will be represented in our book with an image of their work, and their name.

This is provided at no charge to the artist whatsoever.

However!

Artists may, if they choose to, support our vision of local 14 Artists' Book of Days.

Buy one (or two!) one line ads on "your" page in our book with your contact info.

Pre buy one or more books. They will make great gifts, that are sure to become treasured keepsakes.!!

I think it more likely than not that our retail price at the show will be more than $20 so

pre buy!!

Save yourself some money, & get early delivery at our kick off dinner!!

Dorothy Steele & I are creating a great "sales packet."

All you have to do is drop packets off at your favorite butcher, baker & candlestick maker! You will be providing them with a GREAT way to share their work & info with a wonderful bunch of artists and artist lovers.

We will take it from there! just let us know how many sales pgs. you would like to pass out, & also let us know where you take them please!

I'm working on our guest artists' pages this week, and will be inviting them to see our blog, and to sponsor our book by buying ads.

I'm so happy to say that we collected nearly $500 in book & ad money at our meeting, with several hundred $ more promised. We are well on our way!!

Hello Friends and Fellow Artists,

I've finished first draft of all the member artists's pages, and what a relief. This work is the lion's share of our book. We will have a paper preview at the next general meeting.

I sure do wish more of you had responded when I sent out page images this week....

Unless I HEAR otherwise, I'm assuming you have no actual objections to your image, page color or placement.

Please don't ask me to change your page in mid August, I will be at the beach with my grandchildren:)

NOW IS THE TIME TO DECIDE PLEASE.

I just love this gardener bunny Sandy Visse has shared with us, and I remember that April showers bring May flowers, no work goes unrewarded.

Here is a first draft of "my" page, and the weekdays page that will be facing mine in our Book of Days. As you will see, I am buying all of the line ads for "my" week, and will be using them to promote my art sales venues.

Remember our "kick off sale" that allows member artists to buy B&W line ads for $15.oo each, with their pre-purchase of a Book of Days in June.

7 days ads & 1 book, $125.00.

I am working my way through all the member artists page weeks right now, and will be contacting each artist soon, (if I haven't already) regarding their week days and page layout.

I'm so happy to report that Gerry Foote has graciously offered to allow us to publish several of her time related peace leaves poems in our Book of Days. She has offered to accompany some of them with her beautiful watercolor paintings. http://peaceleaves@comcast.net

This morning I'm working on adding all the member artist's of Local 14 into my gmail, so I can add them as viewers to the google docs for our book.
As I type in each name, I think of the artist and their art.
I am so proud to have come to know each of them over the years, and am honored to be able to work with them this year as we create our Local 14 Artists' Book of Days.

I also look forward to the privilege of introducing our 2011guest artists here, and previewing some of their exciting work.

I feel a great stillness, and a huge confidence.
I'm taking a very deep breath....everyone is ready, we begin this week.

Thanks friends, I know this is going to be a wonderful experience, and we will be able to support our show, our Local 14 Scholarship Foundation and still create enough profit to offer a generous donation for those who are less fortunate in our communities.
